Last open house today!

The last open house will be this evening (Thursday) from 6.15-6.45 pm. If you haven't had a chance to have a look yet (or even if you have but want to check it out again), do come along this evening for your last chance before the auction. The auction will be held onsite at 9.45 am Saturday morning.

Here are a few more pictures of aspects of the house that we love.

Hope to see you there tonight!

Local spot: shops, school, and station

The station is an easy 10-minute stroll down the road.

On the way there, you pass by some lovely shops. Here are some of my favorites: the flower shop and patisserie. They always have gorgeous window displays!

No longer a school of arts, this lovely old building houses community events - you can go dancing here on a Friday night!

There are quite a few churches in the area as well.

Arden is a popular school nearby.

One of my personal favorites is Helen and Jo's - they do great pedicures and facials here! Nice to have them so close by!

We will miss our local spots!

Highlight: Gardens

We have thoroughly enjoyed the gardens during our years in Surrey Street. We love to have tea out under the trees in summer, or in the sun in winter. We enjoy seeing the changing seasons from our backyard.

Here we're enjoying our cherry tree in all its springtime glory:

It makes a good picnic spot any time of the year.
(puppy not included with house.)

The verandah and the patio are other favourite spots for relaxing with a glass of wine.

And we've got another cherry tree just out the back, overlooking the patio. Here it's just beginning to bloom:

The backyard is a great place for kids to play! There's plenty of room to run around.

We have more formal gardens at the back of the property, with lovely citrus trees that produce lemons and limes in abundance!

...and mustn't forget the very useful bits of the garden! Here's the veggie patch and the washing line. They're lovely in their own way. :)

We will miss the house with its gardens!

Local spot: two favourite cafes

We love to stroll down to one of the local cafes on a weekend morning for coffee. Here are two of our favourites:

The first one you come to is Banjo Books and Cafe, a great independent little bookshop that also serves yummy scones and tea! I love to page through their quirky offerings as I sit and sip my latte. They have a gorgeous selection of cookbooks that always make me hungry!

Then just across the street is Pablo&Rusty's, a hip coffeeshop that is very popular on weekends. If you're lucky, you might be able to score a table in the back room, where there are comfy couches to lounge on!

As you can see, they also cater to the local workers - this day they were having a special for Unilever employees!
